We were seeing too many complaints about stale air in the newer office wings, and the old HRVs just couldn't keep up with the occupancy loads—so I looked into something with a bit more static pressure to actually move air through the longer duct runs.
The XH series covers from 400 up to 1000 m³/h, which is pretty much the sweet spot for most of our commercial fit-outs, and the static pressure range of 60-160 Pa means we don't have to oversize the ducts (usually a headache with the 60 Pa units). It's got a stationary plate heat exchanger, so no moving parts to fail, and the heat recovery efficieny is rated at 70% or better—actually tested that on a sample form the last batch, and it held steady at 73% at 800 m³/h.
Noise levels are low, which was a non-negotiable for the hospital project we're quoting; the 400D model runs at about 38 dB at full speed, give or take, and the 1000D is a bit louder but still under 45 dB. One thing I'd flag—it's not great for high-humidity environments like indoor pools, the zinc-free galvanized steel handles condensation fine, but aluminum frame can get a bit of pitting over time, so we'd need a different spec for that.
Also, the multi-stage filtration is decent for general office air, but if you're dealing with lab-grade particulate specs, you'll want to add a separate HEPA stage downstream—the stock filters are more for dust and pollen, not sub-micron stuff. We usually have stock on the 500D and 800D models, but the 400D and 1000D are special order, so confirm lead time (usually 2-4 weeks) before promising delivery.
The dimnesions vary by model, but the length runs from about 950mm to 1200mm, and the weight is 25-45kg depending on which you pick—so factor in a two-person install for the bigger units, no way around that. It's got ISO and CE certs, which covers us for most specs, and the 1-year warranty is standard, though we usually push for an extended service contract on the motor given the 60-160W range.
