It’s not a cheap machine to run if you’re only processing short runs, because the setup time for shear knife slitting can eat into your margins when you’re switching materials every few hours — but for continuous production of label paper, protective films, or optical films, the speed (300-400 m/min) and ±0.1mm precision actually make it worth the investment.
We’ve seen most buyers go with the 1700mm unwinding width for flexible packaing, though the 1300mm version is easier to handle if your floor space is tight (check lead time; we usually have stock on the 1300A but the 1700A might take 4-6 weeks).
The SIEMENS PLC control is pretty much standerd for this class, and the 4kW servo on the main drive plus 11kW on rewinding gives you decent torque consistency even when you’re pulling at the upper end of that speed range — the ultrasonic web guide keeps teh edge alignment within ±0.1mm, which matters more for optical films than for, say, kraft paper.
Anyway, the Korean SKH-2 circular blades hold an edge longer than most domestic alternatives, roughly 20% longer in our experience, but you’ll still need to swap them after about 50,000 linear meters or so depending on materail abrasiveness.
One thing that’s not in the spec sheet: the automatic proportional valve for tension control works best when you’ve got a consistent unwind diameter — if your parent roll has a lot of out-of-roundness, you’ll see minor speed fluctuations that the PLC can’t fully compensate for.
Warranty is 12 months with techncial support, but the real cost is in blades and the occasional servo encoder replacement (roughly every 18-24 months under heavy use).
