We've been running these 350A units for a while now, and they hold up well under heavy use — the Yuchai 91 kW four-cylinder engine gives it a solid punch for most jobs. Basically, you're looking at a rotary crawler rig that can handle 350 to 450 meters depth, depending on ground conditions.
Drilling diameter usually sits between 138 and 325 mm, and we recommend 76, 89, or 102 mm drill pipe in lengths of 1.5, 2, 3, or 6 meters. The power head travel is 6.6 meters, rotation torque around 10,000 to 11,000 N.m, with speed ranging 30 to 150 RPM. Air consumption runs 18 to 36 m³/min at 1.7 to 3.5 Mpa, which is pretty standard for this class. What it does is use a diamond bit for rotary drilling, and crawler setup lets it move at 2.5 km/h with a 30% climbing ability. Not the fastest crawler out there, but it gets where you need it.
One thing we've noticed from handling these is that the DC motor system is straightforward to maintain — less headache than some hydraulic-driven alternatives. It's used, obviously, so expect some wear, but we typically have stock availble. You'll want to confirm lead time though, as demand fluctuates.
This rig isn't really suited for ultra-deep geothermal projects past 450 meters or so; the torque and air pressure just won't cut it there. But for mining and construction, it's better than many newer models for tight budgets. The 8-ton weight (that's 3600 by 1700 by 2300 mm overall) makes it manageable for container shiping, though transport weight can vary slightly.
Warranty runs one year with online support, and it carries CE and RoHS certs. Most buyers go with the 138 mm diameter for general work, but teh 325 mm upper range works for larger holes if you need it. Anyway, the 30-ton lifting force is a nice safety margin — real handy if you hit unexpected conditions.
