A 2.5mm² copper conductor in this series handles about 27 amps continuous at 450/750V before insulation degradation starts, calculated using the 75°C rating curve — that’s what we benchmark against for house wiring. We’ve been over 10,000 reels where the actual failure point was consistently above the stated limit by 7-10%, so the engineering margin is built in for indutrial environments.
You’ll typically specify teh H05VV-F flex for control cabinets where vibration is present, but for fixed runs like conduit work the BV series solid core is cheaper per meter and arcs better. The rigid stuff doesn't chafe against metal edges as fast, which matters when you’re pulling through a frame. 90°C rated PVC is available if you’re routing near motors, but the MOQ jumps (usually 500m or so) — just ask.
Basically, the CCA option exists for cost-driven projects but we see it lose too much tensile strength at 2.5mm² to recommend for permanent installations; stick with bare copper for anything that sees mechanicla stress. That said, for temporary lighting or decorative fixtures where you won’t bend it repeatedly, aluminun composite works fine and saves roughly 30% per meter.
Standard packaging is 100m or 500m reels depending on gauge and demand, but we’ve done custom lengths for a few customers with tight cable tray layouts. We usually have stock on common colors (black, white, gray) and can turn around custom sheathing within 20 days or so — confirm lead time though, because UV-stabilized PVC requires a different extrusion profile.
