It's a portable digital machine at 1.1 kg, which is pretty much the lightest we carry for mixed-species work, and the 5.7-inch color LCD holds up well even in direct sunlight.
The 3.5MHz mechanical sector probe is waterpoof, so you can dunk it for cleaning between animals without worrying, and it cycles through 256 gray levels at 30 frames per second which gives you decent real-time movement on the screen. You'll get B, 2B, 4B, B/M, and M modes—most buyers stick with B for routine scans but the cardiac parameters in M mode are actually useful for larger dogs or swine. Battery life is up to 5 hours continuous, though in cold weather you'll probably see closer to 4 hours or so.
It works fine for swine, goats, cats, and dogs, but honestly it's not great for very tiny animals like rabbits or birds—the probe resolution just isn't fine enough for that. We've had a few buyers using it primarily for bovine pregnancy checks too, and the 27 body marks include options for all those species, which saves you form manually labeling every image.
It's got CE and ISO13485 certifications, and we include a COA with every unit that confirms basic performance specs like frame frequency and gray scale. One thing I'd mention that buyers don't often ask about: the USB port is for image storage, but it only works with FAT32-formatted drives, so if you grab an exFAT stick out of your desk it won't recognize it.
The dual power setup (AC/DC) means you can a car lighter or a wall outlet, and packaging is a padded hard case that fits teh scanner, probe, charger, and a small gel bottle.
