We've gone ahead and ordered the L-16 mainly for the tension range — 60 to 2500N across 9 adjustable levels, which should cover most of the strapping jobs we see, from light cartons to denser steel pipe bundling. It runs on an 18V lithium battery at 5000mAh, and they claim about 400 cycles per charge, so a full shift without swapping packs is realistic; the unit itself weighs 3.34kg with the battery on it.
The strap width is 13-16mm and thickness goes from 0.5 to 1.2mm, which is pretty standard for PP and PET bands — the friction sealing joint is what it does, and it's not the quietest but it holds well. There's an LED screen and time adjustment from 1 to 3 seconds, so operators can dial in the weld duration without guessing. We usually have stock on these, but confirm lead time if you need more than 10 units (check lead time for bulk — usually 2-3 weeks for 50 or so).
It's semi-automatic, meaning you tension and seal with a button press but still have to position the strap manually — that's fine for our warehose crew who already run similar tools. Most buyers in waste paper and beverage packging go with the 10mg or whatever tension preset they settle on, but for steel pipes you'll want the higher end of that 2500N. What it's not great for is very thin or narrow straps below 13mm — the tool just won't grip them right.
Battery life is rated at 500 recharge cycles, and we've heard from a couple of users that the actual battery holds up pretty close to that — the cells are standard 18650s, so replacements are easy if needed. CE certified, but no ISO listed on the spec sheet, so if your QC requires that, you'll want to ask. Also, the friction sealing can leave a bit of melted plastic residue on strap if you run the time too long — operators figure that out after a few wraps.
Bulk pricing drops noticeably around the 20-unit mark, and the MOQ is usually 5 units for a first order — we've ordered 8 to start, base on typical usage across two shifts.
