We typically stock this 6192Y/6242Y in 100m and 500m coils, but the 500m drums are easier to handle for larger runs—lead time is usually 7-10 working days if we're out of a specific size. 1.0mm² to 16mm² covers most domestic and light indutrial jobs, though the 10mm² and 16mm² are heavier and we recommend ordering those on drums rather than coils. It basically uses bare copper conductors, either solid class 1 or stranded class 2, with a PVC insulation layer and a PVC sheath in grey, black, or white depending on your preference.
Rated at 300/500V nominal, it handles -30°C to +70°C continuous operation and can take up to 160°C for short circuits (max 5 seconds). Teh minimum bending radius is 6 times outer diameter, so for a 2.5mm² cable that's about 30mm or so—tight enough for most conduit work but don't force it below that. Flame retardancy meets IEC60332-1, which is pretty much the standdard for domestic wiring in the UK and Europe (check your local regs).
You'll use this for surface clipping in dry interiors or embedding in plaster for fixed installations—it's not suited for direct burial or outdoor exposure without additional mechanical protection. Some buyers run it through conduit or trunking, and it works fine there too, but the PVC sheath can be a bit stiff in cold conditions below -10°C. Also, for damp environments like basements, it's acceptable as long as it's not submerged.
Compliance is BS6004 and CE marked, with RoHS on the PVC compounds—we include a COA with every batch, typically showing conductor resisance and insulation thickness within spec. The 16mm² size has a tighter tolerance on conductor diameter than most generic imports, which matters for termination in standard connectors. One detail you might not think to ask: the sheath color can vary slightly between, so for a large project with color matching, order all at once.
For ordering, we need the conductor size and sheath color—grey is most common, but black and white are availble with a 2-week lead if not in stock. MOQ is usually 100m per size, but for 1.0mm² and 1.5mm² our company can do 50m coils if you're prototyping. Pricing is per meter, and we ship via pallet for orders over 500m to avoid coil damage in transit.
