The old motor was pulling 2.3 amps higher than spec at full load and running hot even at half rated torque, which basically meant we were losing both money and production time on every shift.
What we needed was something that could handle the dust from the mixing drums without needing a rebuild every six months, and IP55 enclosure on this one should keep it sealed tight enough that I won't see metal filings in teh bearings for years or so.
Output power on these runs from 0.75KW up to 90KW, we ordered the 7.5KW with the 1500 rpm option for the conveyor line, and the copper winding is a higher density than the aluminum stuff we used to get back in 2020 (usually 180 copper, this one's closer to 200 turns per slot form what I can see on the COA).
Insulation is class F which gives us a 55 degree temperture rise margin above the nameplate rating, so even when the ambient air in the plant hits 40C in July, we shouldn't see thermal cutoff.
Mounting type we went with B3 for the direct base mount but they also do B5, B14, and B35 if someone needs flange kits later — just check lead time on those as stock moves fast.
Also, these don't handle variable frequency drives without a derating factor on the IE5 models, which is a limitation our other suppiler never mentioned until we had two hundred units sitting in the warhouse.
YE3 is IE3 efficiency, YE4 is IE4, and YE5 is IE5 — each step up gives you better energy savings and lower losses. So if you're looking to cut power costs long-term, go with YE4 or YE5.
