The 50°C sterilization temperature means it won’t work for heat-tolerant loads like metal surgical trays that can handle steam—it’s strictly for sensitive items, basically catheters and endoscopes, where even 60°C would be too much, and we saw that limitation as a feature once we matched it to our endoscopy suite.
Plasma with H202 actually does a better job than ethylene oxide for electronics and plastics, no residue to worry about, and the 45-50 minute cycle fits between cases so you’re not waiting around—most buyers we know go with the enhanced cycle at about 50 minutes, but the fast cycle at 30 works if you’re in a crunch, though it’s pretty marginal for heavily soiled loads.
It pulls down to 50pa in about 5 minutes (we’ve clocked it at 4:45 consistently), and the German vacuum pump is quieter than the Chinese clones we tested—worth the upcharge, really, and the 7-inch touch screen with PLC control makes it simple enough that our night shift runs it without errors, and the printer logs every cycle which is mandatory for JCI audits.
Door opens automatically with infrared sensing, so you don’t touch anything after sterilization, which cuts contamination risk—the 245kg weight is a beast though, about 540 pounds, so you’ll want a reinforced floor or at least a heavy-duty dolly for positioning, and it’s ≤160 cm operating height so shorter staff won’t struggle with the upper shelf.
The inner chamber uses either 8mm thick 304 stainless or 5052 aluminum—we chose the aluminun because of that it’s lighter and the plasma doesn’t corrode it anyway, but check lead time if you want stainles ‘cause it usually adds 20 days or so, and the electrode mesh is also 5052 at 2mm thick, which handles the 900W plasma power supply fine.
This comes with CE and ISO13485 certs, EMC testing report included, and the microcomputer incubator for biological indicators holds ±0.3°C—most suppilers won’t give you that detail, but it matters for 2-hour BIs, and we’ve had ours for about 14 months with zero unplanned downtime, so that seals it.
