A municipal crew needed to repair a 315mm water main in under four hours last month, and we used these PE100 electrofusion couplers to get it done — the weld cycle took about 90 seconds per joint, and pipe was back in service before lunch.
Basically, the materail is PE100 polyethylene with a 50-year design life, pressure ratings from PN10 to PN16, and temperature tolerance from -20°C to +40°C which covers most buried installations, and sizes run from 20mm all the way up to 1200mm so you're covered for residential laterals and trunk mains.
We've used these for water distribution and gas lines — they meet ISO4427 and EN12201 for water, and ISO4437 for gas — but they're not suited for hot fluid appliction above 40°C, so if you're moving industrial process water at 60°C you'll need a different solution.
Also, the electrofusion process itself is pretty straightforward if you've got the right welder and a scraped pipe end, and the embedded copper wires create a molecular bond that often tests stronger than the pipe wall in pull-out tests.
MOQ is 100 pieces, lead time is usually 3-7 days depending on size, and we keep 20mm to 315mm in stock most of the time (check for 400mm+), plus samples are availble if you want to run a trial weld first.
