We were looking at the handheld butterfly-style units, but those single-probe designs mean you're constantly swapping or compromising on image qualiy for deeper cardiac views, and the 90-190mm depth range on this cardiac probe is actually better than most compact systems we tested, while the linear covers 20-100mm which is fine for superficial structures, so you're not losing anything on either end.
The DICOM storage was a must for our PACS workflow, and most consumer-grade handhelds don't include it at this price, so that alone justified the order since we'd otherwise need a separate converter box (usually $800-1200 extra), and it exports JPEG and MP4 too for quick sharing, but for formal reporting you'll want the DICOM files.
