They come packed in individual anti-static bags inside a foam-lined box, which is important because armored cable is tough but the connector end faces are delicate, and a single scratch on teh MTP/MPO will drop insertion loss below 0.5dB typical — it's actually better than reagent grade for field deployment in my experience.

Basically, if you're running CPRI links for 5G small cells or military FTTA setups, this is what you want, but it's not ideal for indoor patch panels where you'd be plugging and unplugging daily — the D38999 locking ring is secure but a pain to disconnect repeatedly, and that's just how it is.

The core configuration matters more than people think: 2-core is fine for most CPRI fronthaul, but we see most buyers go with 4-core because of that it gives you redundancy without the weight penalty of multi-core, and the operating tempearture range of -40°C to +85°C means you won't have issues in arctic or desert deployments.

We've been supplying these for about four years now, and one thing that catches buyers is the single-mode vs multi-mode choice — for 5G CPRI over distances beyond 300 meters, you'll want single-mode every time, but for shorter tactical runs under 100 meters, multi-mode is actually easier to terminate in the field (though we don't do field termination on these, they're factory-polished).
