We're ordering 5,000 meters of the 8.7 cable, 4-core at 10mm² per conductor, on wooden drums — dilevery is quoted at 3 weeks from order but they mentioned they usually ship in 20 days or so, so I'd plan on the latter.
It's basically an XLPE-insulated, PVC-sheathed round power cable with oxygen-free copper stranding, rated 0.6/1kV, which is what we need for the main machine power runs without worrying about voltage drop across longer distances — conductor resistance checks out to IEC 60228, and insulation resistnce is over 100MΩ·km, so it's fine for continuous industrial use.
The minimum bending radius is 15 times the cable diameter, which is tighter than the standdard PVC cables we've used before — that actually helps when routing through the existing conduit runs in the plant, so we don't have to cut new paths.
Most buyers go with teh 4-core for equipment like ours, but if you need higher ampacity for a single-phase run, the 2-core version would be an option — just not what we're after here.
They test at 3.5kV for 5 minutes per batch, and COA will include the actual data on halogen content and smoke density per IEC 60754 and 61034, though for dry indoor use that's more of a compliance checkbox than a real concern.
The drums are wooden, each holding about 500 meters, so we'll get 10 drums — just make sure the shop floor has a forklift or pallet jack ready since each one is around 200 kg give or take.
