Actually works better than O-ring face seal when you're dealing with system vibration or thermal cycling, since the metal-on-metal 74° cone suface doesn't degrade like elastomers over time, and we've seen it hold steady at 5000 PSI even after 30,000 presure cycles in test rigs.
Medium carbon steel with galvanized surface treatment gives about 72 hours of neutral minimum — that's decent for mobile equipment but don't bury these underground for years without checking the coating integrity, and the CNC machining keeps thread pitch within ±0.002" which matters most when you're torquing into aluminum manifolds.
It's basically a JIC 74° cone design cut form steel stock, so it handles -20°C to 120°C continuous — below that the galvanizing gets brittle but the steel itself is fine to -40°C, but we usually don't recommend it for cryogenic lines or anything above 150°C where the zinc starts off-gassing.
ISO 9001 covers the shop floor but every lot gets its own COA with hardness and plating thickness data, though you'll want to check the 6000 PSI rating assumes proper tube wall thickness because a thin-wall 1/4" tube will burst before the fitting does.
Most buyers go with the metric thread version for European equipment since the 24° cone L-series adapters aren't interchangeable here, and you'll need to specify whether you're mating it to a swivel nut or a fixed body — lead time is about 15-25 days for JIC stuff (depending on quantty and plating color).
We usually have stock on sizes -4 through -16 in NPT and BSP threads, but the -20 and -24 sizes are made-to-order runs — roughly 50 units or so is the MOQ for those larger bores, so plan ahead if you're working on a 1-1/4" tube system.
