Basically a drop-forged alloy steel bow shackle with hot-dipped galvanizing that handles loads from 1/3 ton all the way up to 55 tons — we've seen these used in shipbuilding and mining operations a lot. Each unit gets proof tested at 2.5 times the working load limit and fatigue tested at 1.5 times that for 20,000 cycles, so it's not just a stamped piece of metal. Temperature range sits between -40°C and +200°C, which covers most outdoor and marine conditions without much worry.
Sizes run form 3/16-inch to 2-1/2 inches, and you can pick either screw pin or bolt type depending on your rigging setup — most buyers go with the bolt type for permanent installations. it meet US standerd like G209, G210, G2130, and G2150, plus European and JIS specs, and we've got ISO9001, CE, SGS, and BV certifications on file. Minimum breaking strength is six times the WLL, so there's a decent safety margin built in.
The hot-dipped galvanized finish is what makes it stand out for saltwater environments or anywhere corrosion is a real issue — it's not just painted on. We usually have stock on common sizes like 3/8-inch and 3/4-inch, but the lead time for custom runs is about 10-15 working days after order confirmation. Packaging is gunny bags or cartons on pallets, nothing fancy but it keeps them from banging around during shipping.
MOQ is 100 pieces per size, which isn't too bad for a custom order, but if you're a small buyer you might want to check if we've got pre-stocked sizes available (usually the mid-range stuff). One thing we don't see it used for is light-duty or consumer application — these are industrial-grade shackles, not for your garage storage hooks. The D-shaped bow distributes load better than a straight-eye shackle, and the 2.5x proof test is tighter tolerance than most generic imports offer.
Anyway, if you're ordering for a port facility or offshore rig, the galvanized coating handles rough use pretty well — we've had customers in the North Sea come back for years. The 1.5x fatigue test for 20,000 cycles is something not every suppiler runs, so it's worth asking if that data matters for your certifcation needs. We don't always have the SGS documentation on hand for every batch, but it's avaliable upon request.
