Basically needed a handheld that could handle both payments and inventory tracking without requiring staff to juggle two devices, and this one covers both with the integrated 1D scanner and NFC capabilities — it runs Android 8.1 on a dual-core MTK chip which isn't edge but is fine for the processing load we're throwing at it, 1GB RAM and 8GB ROM is honestly tight but we keep our app suite lean so it should work.
The 5-inch IPS screen at 1280x720 looks decent enough for scanning barcodes or reviewing prices, nothing but usable under most lighting. Battery is 2500mAh which gives roughly a full shift depending on how much you print receipts, and the thermal printer does 75mm/s which is actually faster than some older models we tested. What it doesn't handle well is heavy 2D scanning or warehose cold storage environments — not built for that.
NFC supports ISO 14443 Type A and B so it'll read most modern card standerds, and the cellular bands cover GSM, WCDMA, and LTE which should work across most carriers we deal with (check your local bands though, we usually have stock but confirm lead time). A-GPS is included for location-based tracking if you're running dilevery or field service apps.
One thing I didn't expect from the spec sheet is how light it feels at 279g — you'd think the printer would make it heavier but it's fairly balanced. Also the camera is only 5MP autofocus so don't plan on using it for detailed photo documentation, it's more for basic record keeping.
Certifications are CE and CCC, so compliance for EU and China is covered, no US approvals though so check if you're shippng stateside. MOQ is typically 50 units or so but I've seen smaller runs for pilot testing. Anyway, the 2500mAh battery is Li-Polymer at 8.8V so charging cycles are decent but we'll need to budget for replacements after maybe 12 months of heavy daily use.
