We needed something with a tested breaking capacity that actually holds up under industrial loads, and the 22kA to 50kA range on these covers most of our panel builds without overspecing. The fixed-type insallation is pretty much standard for us, and the screw terminals are easier to torque down than some of the compression-style connectors we've dealt with.
For motor control centers and distribution boards running at 400V AC, the 16A to 1250A current range gives us flexibility across different feeder sizes. But you wouldn't want this for DC circuits or high-frequency switching application—the arc extinguishing is air-based and designed specifically for 50Hz AC systems.
What it does is provide overload, short circuit, and under-voltge protection in one compact molded case, and the mechanical life is rated at 20,000 operations with electricla life at 10,000. That's roughly 2-3 times the cycle count we see on cheaper units, and the 20,000 operations or so is what we benchmark for maintenance intervals.
We usually have stock on the 3P and 4P configurations, but confirm lead time if you need a specific current rating above 800A—those tend to move slower. The WCM6 is rated for AC 400V only. For 690V applications you'd need our WCM7 or WCM9 series, which have higher voltage ratings.
Store them in a dry area at -25°C to +70°C with humidity below 95%. Keep the terminals covered to prevent dust buildup, and avoid stacking more than 3 cartons high.
