It really depends on what your caseload looks like — the 0.1 to 1500 ml/h range on this covers everything from neonate kittens to large-breed dogs on a steady drip, but if you’re doing mostly equine fluid therapy you’ll want to check the VTBI limit of 9999.99 ml because that’s about 10 liters before you have to re-program it.
We typically ship these with the 4.5-hour standerd battery, but if you’re field-calling or your surg suite loses power often, the optional 9-hour pack is worth the upgrade — basically doubles your runtime without adding much weight beyond the stock 1.4 kg at 199x126x111mm dimnesions.
The IP34 rating is honestly adequate for kennel spray-downs and odd spill but it’s not submersible; if you’re planning to run it in a wet prep area or an actual bath, you’ll want to pull it back 30cm or so from direct splash zones, and we’ve found the ABS+PC housing handles isopropyl wipes fine but avoid acetone-based cleaners.
You’ll get five infusion modes here — Rate, Time, Body-weight, Drip, and Micro — and Micro drops to 0.01 ml/h increments so it’s actually usable for ferrets and exotics; the double CPU and ultrasonic air-in-line detector catch occlusions and air emboli before they become a problem, and teh 4.3-inch touch screen (which we calibrate pre-ship, usually within ±2%) runs a responsive UI that doesn’t lag even when cycling through 5000+ stored records.
2-year everything except the crushable touch glass and user-introduced fluid damage — we've had two units come back for battery replacements in three years, so the LFP cells hold up well — and connectivity is via RS232, USB, IrDA, or optional WiFi; for OVC teaching hospitals, we just set the Bauds at 9600 and it drops right into most hospital management systems.
