We're swapping out the older rig on the 3-level pit because the 25° climbing ability here is non-negotiable—ground clearance sits at 356mm and that tramming speed of 2.5 km/h is slow but steady for the loose talus we're dealing with. Basically, anything less than 20° and you're winching every other shift, which kills productivity.
The QSB3.9-C80 engine puts out 60kW rated power and it's Tier III compliant, so no headaches with emission checks on the surfce sites we run. We've got a 30m max hole depth here and the hole range goes from 90mm up to 203mm, which covers our exploration holes and production blastholes with one rig.
What you get when ordering is the base unit with the 76×3,000mm drill pipes (standdard length) and the oil cylinder chain feed system that gives you 20kN feed force and 45kN lifting force. The rotation torque is 5600 N.m, which is better than the older D340 for harder ground we hit in the quartz vein zones.
Air requirement is 8-20 m³/min F.A.D at 0.7-2.5 MPa working presure, so we'll need to confirm our compressor can keep up at the higher end—usually we run at 1.2 MPa for most of our 140mm holes. It's not ideal for deep horizontal drilling past 30m, but for vertical and near-vertical benches it's fine.
The CE certifcation is in the paperwork and we get a 1-year after-sales service, though we usually have stock on filters and wear parts anyway. Weight without options is 6,000kg, so transport is straightforward with a standard flatbed—dimnesions are 7,000×2,250×2,700mm, fits in a 40ft container if needed.
