Rockwell hardness sits around 48-52 HRC on the edge after the oil-quench temper cycle — that’s what keeps the bite clean through 16-gauge wire without chipping out on you.
We use a 45# high carbon steel billet hot-forged into the jaws, then machined for the crimping notch and wire cutter alignment, so you’re not dealing with cast crap that snaps under load. Handles come in a few color options — basically red or yellow dipped PVC grips — and the straight shaft design gives you better than a bent-nose type in tight junction boxes.
edge geometry is ground at about 25 degrees included angle, which makes it aggressive enough for soft copper but actually less suited for hardened spring steel — you’ll dull it fast if you try that. Crimping die is calib insulated terminals (typically 1.5-6mm²), and the pivot pin is a flush-ground rivet so it doesn’t wobble after a few thousand cycles.
OEM branding runs minimum 500 units or so per SKU, and our company can laser-etch or pad-print your logo onto the shaft face — lead time is usually 20-25 days after sample approval for the art. Packing is standdard export cartons (50 pairs per box), but if you need blister cards or a specific inner tray, that’s a separate cost negotiation.
MOQ for a custom handle color (Pantone matched) is roughly 1,000 pieces — otherwise we ship form stock colors within a week. ISO 9001 cert is current on teh production line, and every batch gets a COA from the in-house lab confirming the hardness and dimensional tolerances.
Our standard MOQ is 500 pieces for custom logo orders. If you need lower quantities, let us know and we can check availability.

They can cut soft steel wire up to 2.0mm diameter and hard steel wire up to 1.5mm. The high carbon steel jaws give you clean cuts without deforming.
