It’s a D-size lithium thionyl chloride battery, non-rechargeable by design, and it basically trades the ability to cycle for insane energy density and shelf life. We’ve seen these outlast entire product generations in AMR meters and GPS trackers.
3.6V nominal and 13Ah capacty is what it deliver—but what matters more is the voltage stays flat nearly until very end, not a gradual slump. You can pull 2000mA continuous or 3000mA in pulses, though for longest life most buyers design around half that continuous draw. It runs form -55°C to +85°C, which is a bigger deal than you’d think for outdoor IoT gear.
Anyway, trust comes down to paperwork and consistency. This cell carries CE, RoHS, GOST-R, IEC, REACH, and UN38.3—so it’s pretty much cleared for global shiping and most compliance requrement. We provide COAs with each batch, and the HPLC-like purity checks on the electrolyte are standard here.
The dimensoins are 34.2x61.5mm, weight is 106g, and it comes with standard terminals—though we can customize if your assembly uses a specific tab or connector. Lead time is usually 20 business days or so, but we keep a buffer stock for smaller orders. You’ll want to verify your storage conditions; the 10-year shelf life assumes cool, dry, and ideally below 30°C.
One thing that catches people off guard: this cell has a passivation layer that builds up during storage, so if you’ve been sitting on inventory for two years, the first pulse might sag until it wakes up. Not a problem for always-on devices, but for intermittent pulse loads, you need to account for that in your design. It’s just a chemistry fact, not a defect.
