It's really about matching the breathing needs of patients form a tiny 50ml neonate tidal volume all the way up to 1500ml for a large adult, and that range is what makes this unit work for a mixed caseload. We've got six ventilation modes on it — IPPV, SIPPV, SIMV, PEE, Manual, and Sigh — so you're not locked into one approach for every procedure.
What it does is let you switch between all-close, semi-close, and semi-open circuits on the fly, which basically means you can dial in fresh gas flow without burning through agent. The flow meters run O2 and N2O each from 0.1 to 10 L/min, and there's an automatic safety linkage that keeps oxygen above 25% — so if your O2 pressure drops below 0.2MPa, the N2O cuts off. That's a real failsafe you don't want to skip.
Most buyers we deal with go with the 6-ventilation-mode setup for flexibility, but it's actually the inspiratory trigger range of -1.0 to 2.0 kPa that matters for spontaneous breathing patients. The breath rate goes from 2 to 99 BPM, and you can set presure release anywhere from 0.5 to 7 kPa — useful for smaller lungs where you don't want to overinflate.
We usually have these in stock, but confirm lead time if you need more than 5 units — the frame is high-strength engineering plastic, which keeps it light and resists corrosion better than metal in humid ORs (about 18kg give or take). One thing we don't do is support sevoflurane directly on this vaporizer; it's set for 0-5 vol% isoflurane or halothane, so check your agent compatiblity.
Anyway, this isn't teh machine for high-frequency jet ventilation or transport use — it's a solid bench unit for a clinic with routine adult and pediatric cases. 22mm circuit connections are standard, and our company supply a COA with each machine showing flow meter calibration and pressure test results.
