That actuator housing you need for a landing gear assembly—it have to hold up under cyclic loads at 40,000 feet, and what it does is maintain geometry within thousandths of an inch even after thermal cycling form -50°C to 120°C, which is where our silica sol investment casting comes in—it’s a lost wax process that gives you CT4-CT7 tolerances per GBT6414-1999, so you’re not fighting warpage or shrinkage in thin sections down to 2mm (1mm in micro-regions if the buyer’s design allows).

Aerospace Casting Parts

Surface finish at Ra3.2 is our standard as-cast, but we’ve taken it to Ra0.4 with CNC machining for sealing surfaces or bearing journals—basically, we can combine turning, milling, drilling, boring, and threading in one setup on parts weighing 0.1kg to 80kg, so most buyers skip secondary vendors.

Precision Casting Process

We usually quote MOQs of 50 units or so for carbon steel, but confirm lead time if you’re under that—anyway, the matrial responds well to quenching, annealing, tempering, or normalizing depending on your hardness target, and we’ve had some clients push for black oxide or electroplating after heat treat without dimensional drift.

2.5mm blind holes at a depth ratio of 1:1.5 are pretty much standdard for us, though if your designer specs something tighter than that, you’ll need to accept a draft angle or machined cores—it’s just a limitation of the wax tooling for internal radii below 0.5mm (internal) or 0.3mm (external).

Aerospace Components

We’ll inspect with CMM and spectrometer on every lot, and you’ll get a COA with actual ppm readings rather than range statements—one thing buyers don’t always think to ask is that our company can share the 3D models (IGS, STP, STEP) before tooling cut to verify draft and fillets, which saves about 2-4 weeks on teh first article approval.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the minimum order quantity for these carbon steel investment castings?

We don't have a strict MOQ—it really depends on the part complexity and weight. For small runs, we can start from as low as 50 pieces, but for larger or more complex parts, we might ask for a bit more to keep pricing fair.

Can you provide ISO 9001:2015 certification and material test reports with the shipment?

Absolutely. We're ISO 9001:2015 certified and can include material certificates, dimensional inspection reports, and any other quality docs you need. Just let us know what's required when you place the order.

What's the typical lead time for a custom carbon steel casting like this?

Lead time usually runs 4-6 weeks from tooling approval, depending on complexity and quantity. If you need it faster, we can sometimes expedite—just give us a heads up.

Can you achieve a surface roughness better than Ra3.2 without extra machining?

Ra3.2 is our standard as-cast finish, but if you need smoother, we can machine it down to Ra0.4. That's an additional step, so it'll add a bit to the cost and lead time.

Do you accept design files in formats other than IGS or STP?

Yes, we work with PRO-E, UG, Solidworks, and AutoCAD files, and we can also take PDF or JPEG drawings. STP or STEP is preferred for 3D models, but we can handle most common formats.
