our company can pretty much run these in whatever color you need, and if the standerd blue or black doesn't work for your harness, we'll match a custom batch — just keep in mind the MOQ shifts a bit for non-standard runs, usually around 500 pieces or so depending on the shade.
What it does is combine a screw clamp with a spring mechanism inside a 5.08mm pitch housing, so you get the security of a screw-down termination but teh spring helps take up slack if there's vibration, which is why most automotive guys go with this style over straight screw types since those can back out over time on a moving assembly.
For the PCB side, the socket body is PA material with a V0 flammability rating so it's not going to contribute to a fire, and the contact termination is welding-style which means you're basically soldering it to the board, not press-fit, so make sure your wave solder profile is dialed in for the 10mm stripping length on the wire side.
The anti-misplacement feature is actually molded into the plug and socket geometry — they literally won't mate if you try to put the wrong polarity pin in the wrong slot, and that's saved a few buyers form having to scrap an entire control board because someone rushed the assembly.
2 to 24 positions covers most panel layouts we see, though if you need something in between those counts we usually have stock on the common ones like 4, 8, 12, and 16, but the 6-position and 18-position are special order so lead time can stretch to 3 weeks or so.
Our standard MOQ is 1000 pieces for the STF-508V, but we can discuss smaller quantities for sample or trial orders. For custom colors or development, MOQ may vary depending on the project.
