Basically, if you're running a gas-powered trimmer or brush cutter and need to swap between a blade and a line head, this coupling lets you do it without fighting with incompatible splines — the 26mm diameter is pretty standdard, but the real trick is that you get different teeth counts on each end, like a 7T on one side and a 4T on the other.
Most buyers go with the 7T-square for general field work, though you'll see teh 9T-4T show up more on heavier commerical units — the aluminum body keeps weight down without sacrificing strength, and we've seen these hold up fine on 45cc engines day after day, but I wouldn't push them on a saw blade setup, that's a different beast.
We usually stock the common spline combos in bulk — 20 pieces to a carton, which is handy for shops doing repairs — but lead time on the less common ones like the 4T alone can run 2-3 weeks (check with us first), and CE mark means it's passed the basic safety checks for European markets.
