Basically what happens is the fuse sits inline with the fan motor winding and when things get too hot—say a bearing seizes or airflow is blocked—it opens teh circuit permanently, so the motor can't run until the fuse is physically replaced, which is kind of the whole point of a non-resettable thermal cutoff.
You've got temperature ratings from 91°C all the way up to 240°C, and the 10A or 15A current handling at 250V AC covers most small appliance motors, but if you need something for a higher current draw like a commercail ventilator, this isn't your part since the breaking capacity is meant for residential-grade loads.
The ceramic housing doesn't degrade with heat cycling the way some plastic-bodied fuses do, and we usually keep 5,000 units or so in stock for the common 130°C and 150°C ratings, though the 91°C and 240°C variants are typically a 20-day lead time from the factory.
8 out of 10 buyers go with the 150°C RY model for fan motor overheat protection—it's a sweet spot where it trips before the motor winding insulation fails but doesn't nuisance-blow during normal peak load operation, and you'll want to confirm the exact temperature for your specific motor's thermal class (check the datasheet).
The lead wires are standard 22 AWG, about 150mm long, and they're crimped, not soldered, so you can just splice them into the motor's neutral line without worrying about heat damage from soldering, and UL certifcation (file number EXXXXX) covers the whole RY series.
For ordering, the MOQ is 1,000 pieces for the standard ratings and we can mix temperture options within a single shipment (usually 10A or 15A), but if you need less than that for prototyping, we do have a sample pack of 10 units at a slightly higher per-unit cost.
