We had this recurring headache where branch cuts came out ragged and sap would gum up our saws mid-season, and the rot from bad cuts kept costing us more time in tree health management than the actual trimming did.
What it does is cut clean through 4-inch limbs with basically no binding, and the hard chrome surfce pretty much sheds sap before it becomes a problem—you can go form one tree to the next without stopping to wipe it down.
The 65Mn carbon steel blade runs at 47HRC (a good working hardness that holds an edge without getting brittle), the 270mm length gives enough reach for most crown work, and the 1.0mm thickness keeps it light enough for one-handed use above your head.
Lead times on orders of 40 pieces or so are usually around 2-3 weeks depending on whether we've got stock in the blister card packging ready to go, though our company can mix carton quantities if you're rigging for a smaller test run.
It's not great for dry seasoned hardwood over 4 inches—for that, you'd want a skip-tooth blade with a longer stroke, but for green pruning on fruit trees or ornamentals, most buyers we work with just keep this one on their kit and never switch out.
65Mn steel is tougher and holds an edge longer than regular carbon steel, so you won’t need to sharpen it as often. It’s also more flexible, which means the blade is less likely to snap under pressure on thick branches.
It’s functional — the chrome plating cuts down on rust and sap sticking to the blade, so the saw stays cleaner and slides through wood easier. It also adds a layer of wear resistance.
Each tooth is ground on three sides instead of just one, which makes them sharper and more aggressive. That translates to a faster cut with less effort, especially on green or wet wood.
