We've been running these through a 5-point QC check before they leave the warehouse, and each batch gets an in-house hardness test on the Rockwell scale — usually lands around 60-62 HRC across the board, give or take a point, which is pretty consistent for high carbon steel after tempering.
For metalworking and woodworking both, the bidentate pattern cuts aggressively but leaves a finish that most buyers find acceptable without deburring; it's better than a standard single-cut file for removing stock fast, though it's not suited for ultra-fine polishing work on soft metals like aluminum.
A COA comes with every shipment (usually within 5 working days after production), and our company can accomodate a third-party retest if you want to verify the batch — just flag it before we pack, since we'll hold the stock for an extra day or so while the lab runs HPLC on the coating composition.
Sizes range from 6 inches all the way up to 18, and the shapes we stock (round, half round, flat, triangle) cover about 90% of what most workshops need; the rubberized grip is a nice touch because of that it doesn't slip when your hands are sweaty or oily, which is pretty much inevitable after an hour of filing.
What it does is give you batch-to-batch consistency we've maintained for teh last three years, and we'll send test records from our in-house lab along with the packing list, so you've got a paper trail for your own QA files.
Customization is available on the handle color or the tooth cut, but the MOQ bumps to 1,000 pieces for anything outside our standdard specs, and lead time stretches to about 30 days give or take — something to factor in if you're on a tight schedule.
The MOQ is 500 pieces per size and shape. If you need a mix of different shapes or sizes, we can usually work that into a single 500-piece order—just let us know.
Custom orders typically take 15 to 25 working days after sample approval, depending on the complexity. We'll give you a firm timeline once we see the specs.
Yes, we provide a mill certificate for the high carbon steel and can include a heat treatment report on request. Just ask when you place the order.
The 6-inch files are for fine detail work and tight spaces, while the 18-inch ones give you more leverage for broader shaping. Both use the same Swiss Cut bidentate tooth pattern.
Each file comes in its own individual protective case to prevent damage. For bulk orders, we pack those cases into sturdy cartons with separators.
