We're ordering 10 units of the 90mm frame single-phase motor for the conveyor section on line 3, delivery is quoted at about 3 weeks and the MOQ wasn't an issue since we're buying enough to swap out the old 25W units across two shifts. Basically it replaces a worn-out drive that's been causing intermittent jams at the packaging station, and the reversible rotation means we can flip direction if we reconfigure the line later.
It's a 40W unit pulling 0.45A at 220V, so it won't overload our existing 15A circuit, and starting torque is 3000g.cm which is roughly double what the old motor could do cold—that alone should stop the hesitation we see on startup. The output speed depends on the gear ratio you pick, but we're going with a 1:30 reduction to get about 160 RPM at the shaft, which matches the belt speed we need for the box sealer.
The gearbox is a bevel gear type (GN/GU-K) with a straight shaft output, and it's closed construction so dust form the cardboard shredder won't get into the windings. This isn't for high-speed applicaion—if you need over 500 RPM you'd want a different motor entirely, but for our matrial handling at 5-300 RPM it's a solid fit. We've used similar 5RK frames on other lines and the 4-pole design runs cooler than the 2-pole equivalents we tried.
It's ISO and CE certified, and we usually have a COA on file for these, though I'd confirm lead time since the distributor mentioned they were out of stock on the 5RK40GN-C variant specifically (the GU shaft version was available but we need the GN bevel output). The voltage is 50/60Hz compatble, so our company can run it on the 60Hz circuit in the new facility without derating.
One thing I noticed—the rated torque is 1300g.cm continuous but the starting torque is 3000g.cm, which is typical for induction-start motors with auto-reduction, but if you're running it at the low end of the speed range (under 20 RPM) you'll want to check the thermal limits because the fan isn't as effective there.
