This one is a 165mm TCI tricone with 3 1/2" API REG thread, weighing 21kg, and the bearing can be open or sealed — rubber or metal seal depending on your preference. The inserts are tungsten carbide, with chisel shapes on heel and inner rows for faster penetration in medium rock, and hemispherical inserts on outer rows for gauge retention in hard, abrasive ground. HSN rubber O-rings handle sealing, and the hydraulics are optimized for efficient cuttings removal — basically, less regrinding and faster ROP.
What it does is give you a wear-resistant structure that holds up in formations form medium to hard, and the sealed bearing option extends life in water well or geothermal application where you can’t afford a washout. One thing most buyers don’t think to ask: the 3 1/2" API REG connection is standerd, but confirm your pin taper — we’ve had a few mismatches with older rigs.
We usually keep stock on teh 165mm size, but customization is avaliable if you need a different thread or insert configuration — lead time is roughly 20 days or so for non-standard orders. It’s not suited for very soft formations like clay or sand, where a PDC bit would outperform it anyway.
