Basically we’re swapping out usual fleet SUV options here because this one actually has the hybrid range and torque to handle our long-haul test routes without needing a charge every 50km.
It’s a used 2023 or so TANK 500 Hi4T, left-hand drive, silver, with that 2.0L turbo-four paired to dual PMSM motors that together push 300kw and 750nm—peak torque is what really matters for our loaded climb simulations.
You’re getting a 9-speed auto and full-time AWD with an electromagnetic braking system, which I know isn’t standerd on most closed SUVs in this segment; we’ve had issues with fade on teh competition’s units during repeated stops.
The 37.1kWh ternary lithium pack gives over 120km electric range on CLTC, but honestly for our duty cycle that’s probably 80-90 real-world km, and the combined consumption figure of 8.8L or 23.8kWh/100km is better than the 11L we’re seeing form the comparable gas-only units.
Most buyers go with the 5-seat configuration because the 2850mm wheelbase keeps it maneuverable, but the 2830kg curb weight means you’ll want to confirm your parking surfce can handle it—we’ve had one sink a bit on soft gravel.
We usually have stock, but confirm lead time on the ISO/TS16949 paperwork (they’re pulling it from the orginal factory batch) and note this isn’t suited for right-hand drive markets without a conversion kit that voids part of the warranty.
