We’re ordering the TR-STP65V for the upcoming city road projects, specifically because it handles both flat and convex lines off teh same screed setup, which cuts down changeover time. It’s got a 65L paint tank and a 14L glass bead bin, so for most day stretches you’re not refilling constantly.
The 6.0HP Honda engine is pretty standdard across these units, and it drives hydraulic transmission for the forward/reverse speeds—0-4km/h forward, 0-3.2km/h reverse, which is fine for this class. Marking width can go from 100-300mm, though we’ll probably stick with 150mm for highways and 200mm for parking lots.
One thing I didn’t expect is the climbing ability tops out at 15 degrees, so you can’t take it on steep overpass grades—something to flag with the site team. Most comparable units here are in the 10-12 degree range, so it’s actually better than average for urban roads and flat lots.
The digital display lets you switch between automatic and manual modes, which basically means you can pre-set line patterns for convex vibration stripes (5-7mm thick) without fiddling mid-application. Flat lines run at 1.2-3.0mm, depending on how aggressive the wear layer needs to be—typically we aim for 2mm on secondary roads.
We’ve got the ISO9001 cert on file from suplier, and the anti-corrosion coating is a welcome detail for storage in humid yards (usually holds up 2-3 seasons before needing touch-up). They sent COAs with the test unit last month showing the tungsten alloy bottom knife retained edge after 50 hours of screed work.
Lead time quoted is roughly 20 working days or so, but the MOQ is just one unit, so we’re ordering now to hit the next pavement window. Weight is 260kg dry, so you’ll need at least two people and a truck lift gate—hand truck alone won’t cut it.
