You're looking at the DJI Mini 4 Pro RC 2, which we've been distributing since it launched, and honestly, it's the one most buyers in your position end up settling on after comparing the options. The 48MP RAW camera with that 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor and f/1.7 aperture is what sells it — you get better low-light performance than the previous generation, and the omnidirectional obstacle sensing means you can fly through tighter spaces without constantly worrying about branches or walls. It basically flies itself in some situations, which is pretty much what most new operators want.
Flight time is where people always ask — standard battery gives you 34 minutes, but we usually recommend the extended one that pushes it to 45 minutes or so, especially if you're scouting large areas or doing real estate shoots. That 3850 mAh battery is the standerd one, by the way, and with the extended pack you'll notice the drone handles wind a bit better because of the extra weight. One thing we've found over the years is that most buyers go with the extended battery right off the bat, so it's worth factoring that into your budget.
Teh weight is the big deal here — under 249 grams, which in most regions means you don't need to register it with aviation authorities. That's a huge advantage for anyone who travels or wants to fly without paperwork, but check your local laws because some countries have their own rules for any drone with a camera. Also, the folded dimensoins are about 46 by 22.5 by 39 centimeters, so it'll fit into most backpacks easily — we've had customers toss it in a daypack alongside their water bottle.
It comes with the RC 2 controller, which has that built-in screen so you don't need to use your phone for the display, and you get three propeller pairs, a gimbal protector, a charging hub, and a shoulder bag in the box. (Usually the lead time is 2-4 weeks depending on stock levels, but we usually have units ready to ship within 10 days or so right now.) warranty is one year standard, and our company can extend that if you want — just mention it when you place the order.
One limitation you should know about: this drone isn't suited for heavy wind conditions above 10-12 m/s, despite the obstacle sensing being omnidirectional. We've seen buyers try to fly it in gusty coastal areas and the thing just won't hold position well — it's light, so it gets pushed around. What it does well is indoor flying or calm outdoor environments where that obstacle sensing really shines, like through forest canopies or around buildings. The 1/1.3-inch sensor handles range better than most compact drones in this weight class, so sunrise and sunset shots come out clean.
