We’d been burned before on MOQs—15 units or so just to see if something works—so finding a suppiler that starts form 10 pieces with no setup fee was pretty much a relief. Running on 610-950nm transmission, these longpass filters come in optical glass with thickness from 0.3mm up to 50mm, and they support 0° or 45° incidence angle, which covers most of our IPL machine builds without extra machining.

Actually, we use them to block unwanted low-wavelength light in the commerical IPL beauty machines—skin treatments need that targeted output—and they’ve also found a home in our spectroscopy rigs and thermal imaging setups, usually to isolate specific spectrum ranges. Most buyers go with the thicker variants for thermal work, but for IPL the standdard thickness is fine.

What it does is undergo three rounds of spectrum testing before packing, so surface quality hits 60/40 standard and diameter tolerance stays within +0.00/-0.20mm (which matters when you’re press-fitting into a housing). 0.3mm is better than reagent grade for this, by the way—tighter tolerance than most off-the-shelf stuff.

Anyway, we’ve got custom shapes, and packaing is that special protective stuff that survives freight—we usually keep stock, but confirm lead time for thick batches over 30mm. They’re RoHS, ISO, and CE certified, no extra fee for small runs.

Not suited for high-precision laser cavities, mind you—the surface quality is good but not that good, and the angle tolerance gives some loss at 45° on thicker glass. One detail you’d want: optical density drops a bit below 620nm, which can mess up certain thermal imaging calibration if you’re not paying attention.
