We’ve seen crews on municipal water line jobs where the pipe’s been sitting in the sun for a week, and without the cold ring, that 2-inch IPS section just won’t stay round enough for a clean fusion joint—the locking plier clamps it tight and forces the bell end back to spec as the welder heats up.
The CRV steel body (chrome vanadium) runs form 0.8kg to 1.2kg depending on size, which for the 63mm metric version is actually easier to handle one-handed than the bigger 50mm socket fusion tools you’ve used, and the temperature rating of -20°C to 60°C means it won’t seize up in a cold trench; the ergonomic grip is standard across all IPS offerings from 1/2 inch through 2 inch, with the usual 20mm to 63mm metric equivalents availble.
It basically does three things—holds the pipe round during cooling, gives you a stop for consistent insertion depth (usually within 1-2mm), and color-coded handles make it quick to grab the right size from a tool bag without squinting at stamps, but we’ve found it’s not great for thin-wall schedule 10 or 20 pipe since the clamping force can deform it before the heat even reaches teh joint, and that’s just a fact of the geometry.
We stock all six sizes, but the 1-1/4 inch and 32mm sell about 4:1 over the others—most buyers go with those for standard residential PEX and HDPE runs.
ISO 9001 covers manufacutre, so you’ll get a COA on request; the 1-year warranty is pretty standard for plier-type tools given the jaw wear after hundreds of cycles, and we usually have MOQ at 10 units or so unless you’re a distributor asking for full cartons.
Our standard MOQ is 100 units per size, but we can discuss smaller trial orders if you're just starting out. Just reach out to our sales team.
Lead time is usually 15-20 working days after order confirmation, depending on the quantity and size mix. We’ll confirm exact timing when you place the order.
Yes, we include ISO 9001 certification copies with every shipment. We can also supply ASTM F1056 compliance documentation upon request.
We offer multiple handle colors, and for bulk orders you can choose a specific color or mix. Just let us know your preference before we start production.
Store them in a dry place within the -20°C to 60°C temperature range. Avoid moisture to prevent rust on the chrome vanadium steel, and keep them in a tool case if possible.
