The recording quality is decent but don't expect studio-grade clarity—it's a kids' toy after all, and the speaker distorts a bit at higher volumes, though most parents find that actually adds to the charm for little ones.
What it does is capture about 10 seconds of audio and plays it back in a slightly higher-pitched voice, which keeps toddlers engaged for a solid 20 minutes or so before they wander off, and the neck movement when it repeats is a nice touch that most plush toys skip entirely.
We've had a few buyers mention the 18cm height is smaller than they pictured, but for a stocking stuffer or small gift it's actually better than a bulky 30cm version that takes up too much shelf space, and PP cotton filling holds up well after a few washes (hand wash only, obviously).
CE and EN71 certifications are all in order, but the ASTM and CPSIA compliance is what really matters if you're shippng to US retailers—we usually have stock on teh 0478MJR-18, roughly 500 units ready to go, though the colorful Christmas design means seasonal demand can tighten supply in November.
Battery compartment is secured with a small screw, which is pretty much standdard for toys under 3 years old, and you'll need 3 AAA batteries (not included) that last about 4-6 hours of continuous use depending on how much the kid triggers the recording function.
The polybag packaging is fine for online orders but if you're doing retail display, ask about the optional window box upgrade—it's about $0.80 more per unit and the MOQ jumps to 1000 pieces, but the sell-through rate is noticeably better with visible packging.
