Our plain catgut sutures are high-quality absorbable surgical threads made from the thin intestinal serous layer of healthy bovines. These sutures are free from BSE and aphtose fever, ensuring safety for medical applications.
The natural animal origin of these sutures results in moderate tissue reactivity, making them suitable for various surgical applications. The absorption process occurs through phagocytosis within approximately 65 days post-implantation.
These sutures maintain their tensile strength for 7-14 days, with variations possible depending on patient factors. They are particularly recommended for tissues that heal easily and don't require permanent artificial support.
Our plain catgut sutures feature yellow label color coding for easy identification. The product undergoes gamma radiation sterilization and has a shelf life of 3 years when stored properly.
Available needle options include taper cutting, reverse cutting, and taper point configurations, made from AISI 420 grade steel. Needles come in various curves including 1/2 circle, 3/8 circle, 5/8 circle, and straight cutting options.
The sutures are ready for immediate use without requiring additional sterilization. We offer multiple length options to accommodate different surgical needs.
