Hungary Votes to Withdraw from the International Criminal Court

On April 29 local time, Hungary's foreign minister stated that the Hungarian parliament voted that day to approve Hungary's withdrawal from the International Criminal Court.

The foreign minister said in parliament that day that he would write to the UN Secretary - General regarding the withdrawal, and the withdrawal would take effect one year later.

On April 3, the Hungarian government announced its decision to withdraw from the International Criminal Court and initiated the withdrawal process later that day. On the same day, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu arrived in Hungary for an official visit.

The International Criminal Court, based in The Hague, Netherlands, issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and others in November 2024, accusing them of crimes against humanity and war crimes.
