US Potential Strike on Iran and Upcoming Nuclear Talks

On April 8 local time, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Rudenko stated that a possible US strike on Iran would have the most severe consequences for the regional situation. If an attack occurs, Russia is not obliged to provide military assistance to Iran but will take all measures to mediate the conflict.

Recently, Trump has repeatedly claimed that if he fails to reach an agreement with Iran on the Iranian nuclear issue, he will "bomb" Iran.

On April 7 and 8, the US and Iran respectively confirmed that they would hold talks on the Iranian nuclear issue. However, Trump claimed it would be "direct" talks, while Iran once again refused and clearly stated it would be "indirect" talks.

Early on April 8, Iranian Foreign Minister Araqchi posted that Iran and the US would hold "indirect" high - level talks in Oman on the 12th. Araqchi wrote on social media: "This is both an opportunity and a test. The ball is in the US's court."
