The aircraft, belonging to the United States Air Force, took off from Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland and made a brief stop in Rotterdam, Netherlands before arriving in Moscow.

The C-37A/B is a specialized military plane responsible for transporting VIPs, including foreign dignitaries and senior government officials. According to the US Air Force website, its primary mission is to support special operations tasks.

The unusual visit comes amid heightened diplomatic efforts between Russia and the United States, with Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump engaging in a phone call on February 12 to discuss the Ukraine crisis.
