China's Sichuan Province Records Historic High in Foreign Trade
In 2024, Sichuan Province achieved a historic high in foreign trade, with total imports and exports reaching 10457.2 billion yuan, an increase of 9.4% compared to the previous year.
The province's foreign trade has been driven by frequent appearances of international container trains, which have played a key role in connecting the region with the rest of the world.
Starting from Chengdu International Railway Port, these trains have become a symbol of 'high-speed' development, leveraging the port's core functions to facilitate trade and economic growth.
The port has been instrumental in leading inland opening-up efforts, with the Chengdu area recording total imports and exports of 505.4 billion yuan, an increase of 20.4% compared to the previous year, surpassing the 500 billion yuan mark for the first time.
The success can be attributed to the province's 'four-in-one' development strategy, which has optimized the channel network and boosted the region's economic vitality.
The Chengdu area has emerged as a key player in Sichuan Province's foreign trade, with its comprehensive bonded zone ranking third among all zones in the province, contributing around 1/20 of the province's total foreign trade volume.
Looking ahead, the region is poised to become an even more important hub for international trade and logistics, with plans underway to further develop its infrastructure and capabilities.
The Chengdu International Railway Port has been recognized as a comprehensive bonded zone, and has achieved 'double-A' performance in the 2023 annual development assessment, making it one of the top-performing zones in the country.
The port's success can be attributed to its strategic location, advanced infrastructure, and favorable policies, which have attracted numerous domestic and international companies to invest in the region.
In terms of e-commerce, Sichuan Province has made significant strides, with the Chengdu area emerging as a key player in the country's cross-border e-commerce development.
According to statistics, the province recorded 560 million transactions in 2024, an increase of 80.6% compared to the previous year, making it one of the top-performing regions in the country.
The Chengdu area has also seen significant growth in its services trade, with total exports reaching 2087.46 million US dollars, an increase of 89.8% compared to the previous year, making it a key contributor to the province's overall foreign trade volume.
As the country continues to drive forward its development strategy, Sichuan Province is poised to play an even more important role in China's economic growth and global trade networks.
