Historic Moment for China's Maritime Industry as 'Green Rizhao' Ship Sets Sail

In a groundbreaking move, the 77,000-ton multipurpose paper pulp ship 'Green Rizhao' has been officially named and delivered to Interbank Financial Leasing Co. Ltd. by Dalian Zhongwang Shipping Heavy Industry Co., Ltd.

The remarkable achievement is not only a milestone for the maritime industry but also a testament to China's commitment to environmental protection. The ship, built with cutting-edge green technology, has earned the Carbon Neutrality Certification from the China Classification Society, making it the first domestically-built new vessel to achieve zero-carbon emissions throughout its entire construction process.

The 'Green Rizhao' measures 225 meters in length, 32.26 meters in width, and 21 meters in depth, with a designed speed of 15 knots. Its cargo hold is well-sealed and dry, ensuring the high-quality and safe transportation of paper pulp products.

The ship's innovative features include a collapsible goods car specialized framework, which enables it to transport new energy vehicles while maintaining its environmental performance. Additionally, the vessel is equipped with a one-to-one temperature monitoring and warning system for new energy vehicles, ensuring their safe transportation.

In terms of emissions, the ship meets the highest international standards, while its vibration and noise levels meet the latest requirements set by the China Classification Society's Green Ecological Ship Standard. The vessel's energy efficiency design index (EEDI) far exceeds the third-stage requirements of the International Maritime Organization.

Notably, during the construction process, Dalian Zhongwang Shipping Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. introduced innovative green technologies, including the national Energy Administration-issued Green Certificate, which was fully applied throughout the project's entire construction process. This achievement enabled the project to successfully reduce its total greenhouse gas emissions to zero in the construction phase, earning it the Carbon Neutrality Certification.

This milestone marks the first time a domestic ship has undergone and passed carbon neutrality evaluation, which is expected to bring significant economic benefits and social returns for shipowners and lessees. The 'Green Rizhao' project also contributes to the development of green shipping and helps achieve China's goal of reaching peak carbon emissions and achieving carbon neutrality.

The 'Green Rizhao' sets a new standard for the maritime industry, demonstrating that environmental protection and economic growth can go hand-in-hand. As the industry continues to evolve, this ship serves as a shining example of innovation and sustainability in action.
